30 day challenge....day two

Your favourite pair of shoes

I am the most indecisive person in the world, so I would think everyone of these challenges are going to be multiples! The first are a lovely pink nude pair of heels from Dorothy Perkins, the other are a nude suede lace up wedge from Tesco of all places!

Couldn't resist one of the boy in the sunshine today.

Sunshiney Days

Today we went to see 'Tinker Tailor Solider Spy' with my friend Lizzie and her gorgeous little boy Alfie.
The film was seriously hard going and we ended up leaving half way through to as neither of us could follow it and entertain the boys at the same time, so we went to enjoy the sunshine in the park with the obligatory Starbucks, iced coffee on a sunny day, can't beat it!

Smiles all round

I could never thank the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurses at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital enough, for without them I would not have this gorgeous little boy.

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

We've had fabulous weekend, the inlaws have been down this weekend, they come down to visit Finn (and us I'm sure!) every month as they live about 5 hours away. We are taking Finn up North in three weeks to meet the rest of his Northern family, he probably won't understand a word they say like me!

We spent the day at Southwold on Sunday which is a gorgeous beach not far from us, here's a few pictures from our weekend.....

Or not so small!

I think I spend £30 when E.L.F had there 50% sale, I had only spent £25 but paying for postage really miffs me off and I think it was £3.95 so as it was free delivery over £30 I thought I might as well try some more items!

Cream eyeliner in Plum
Nail varnish in Navy

Theraputic condition lipbalm
Mineral lipstick in Natural nymph
Cutical conditioning pen
Stipple brush
Zip zapper

Brown Sugar

Today me and Finn went out for lunch with his Granma, we went to a cafe I've been wanting to try in Long Stratton called Brown Sugar. Brown Sugar is touted as 'A cosy place to meet up with friends and family' so I therefore thought it would be quite child friendly, boy was I wrong. I felt quite uncomfortable with a baby in there from the word go so should of really gone else where but thought we'd give it a go.

We had to wait about 5mins for a table of which there was about 8 small tables in a side bit of the cafe and a section with a sofa and bar stools. Being carb free at the moment I ordered there steak mince chilli with jacket potato and salad, minus the potato and Finn's Granma had a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich. The coffees were very good I must admit, lovely proper coffee. I was a bit miffed about being charged full price for my meal as I didn't have the potato but I guess they have to turn a profit.

The food arrived slowly for it being such a simple order, mine was very tasty but Finn's Granma was a bit disappointed with the bread in her sandwich, with there being an amazing bakery in Long Stratton we had hoped the bread would of been from there, clearly it wasn't. Also I noticed they we're selling bacon, which I thought would be from one of the great local butchers, it wasn't it, was from the EU. I mean I'm not one to go all out and buy organic but I do support my local village by getting my meat and eggs from the local butchers and our veg from the farm shop so that was a bit disappointing, didn't really see why they were selling it to be honest.

Changing facilities, well there wasn't any, there was one small cramped toilet which was a bit unclean. I had no choice to change Finn on the on the floor, now I do know that not all small cafes can cater for baby changing and this obviously isn't there market but I think for a coffee shop in a largish village which has regular mum and baby meets and the local sure start centre that they could do a great trade in coffee and cake for yummy mummies with bambino's.

We will be trying the 'Tree House' cafe next time which looked much more inviting and I wish we had of gone there instead this time.

Coffee & Cake

Another day another coffee. Today I met the other yummy mummies from the NCT group that I should have gone to, had I not been admitted to hospital at 32 weeks! One of the mummies is very poorly in hospital at the moment so I wish her well and hope she is on the mend soon.

Today we met at Zest @ House of Frasier. It was a nice bright cafe looking out over the parade of shops in the mall. We were able to get a bench of sofa's and apart from blocking a poor man in we were able to park all the buggies up. I do like cafe's that act as if its no trouble to bring your drinks over to you, rather than the ones that let you struggle with the pushchair and a tray of hot drinks so major bonus points there for Zest. Some of the mummies had lunch which looked lovely too.The changing facilities were very good, although there was only one baby changing room I imagine there are more on the other floors. Luckily this one had a toilet in too, which I always think is a must! In the main Mall there is an open baby changing room with a couple of changers, however the toilet door opens in wards so you can't take the pushchair in there, which seems pretty pointless to me, who's going to leave the baby in the pushchair on the other side of the door.

Had I of been a good blogger I would of taken a photo, I shall do this from now on.

All of the babies are so much more alert now as the weeks go on, Finn is now 12 weeks corrected and the other babies vary from I believe nearly 8 weeks to 12 weeks so it's nice to see that Finn is on par with the oldest baby.

I've fallen off the diet wagon today, oops, straight back on it tomorrow though as it's really working and I'm actually enjoying it so much, I'll blog about it when I've lost a stone.

Just noticed Britain's & Ireland's Next Top Model is on, I'm hoping for a Juste and Jade final, got to love a bit of trashy t.v.

Deck the halls...

Yes CHRISTMAS is only 96 sleeps away. I totally love Christmas and this year will be extra special with it being Finn's first Christmas. My Amazon wish list is bulging with things I keep finding to buy Finn, I feel he will be spoilt this year.

Last Christmas in an attempt to keep costs down as we we're saving for baby paraphernalia I made most of our families presents, this consisted of a foodie box of homemade goodies being; mango chutney, red onion relish, Christmas pudding vodka and peanut brittle.

This year I hope to do the same and I am already scouting the Internet for interesting foodie gifts to make. So far I have on my list; Bacon Jam from Niamh at the ever fabulous blog Eat Like a Girl, last years Mango Chutney was a massive hit so I shall make that again, I think I will make a Rumtopt and my friend Sam from Up The Wall made some gorgeous chocolate covered pretzels last year so I might steal her idea and make the same.

Septembers GlossyBox

My first GlossyBox came yesterday, was I super excited and a little bit nervous after seeing all the negativity on there facebook wall!

Unless you've been living under a rock then I will assume you know what the GlossyBox is, but just for those not in the know...... For only £10 (+ £2.95 postage and packaging) the Glossybox team source 5 different luxury samples including full size items, every month for you and post right to your door.

Waiting to find out what treasure I have in my box!

Beautifully packaged in tissue paper with a pink ribbon.

Here's what came in my box, I was very happy to say the least!

Mary Greenwells 'Plum fragrance' sample - Not keen on the smell of this, it's very strong and musky, one to give to my nan I think.
Spa Magik Salt Scrub sample - Really looking forward to trying this, I have their mineral salts which are lovely so hoping this will leave my skin super soft.
HD Eye Brow Pallette FULL SIZE! - Perfect for me as I fill my brows in every day, I got my set in 'Bombshell' for Blondes but the shades can be used as liner and eyeshadow so this will be perfect as I'm running low on neutral eye shadows.
my second FULL SIZE was..
Neal & Wolf Intensive Hair Treatment (all skin types).. A brand I haven't heard of but this smells divine and I am in need of a treatment for my hair as it is falling out all over the place, bloody hormones!
Moa ' the green balm sample - Will be using this as my new lipbalm.

Overall I am very happy with this months GlossyBox, however I know there are quite a few that only recieved one full sized item and many bloggers that recieved their box free (and early!) for 'considerated' which seems a little unfair. I'll keep going with my subsription but I'm interested to try Feel Unique and Boudoir Prive boxes to see how they compare.

Being a preemie mum

Sometimes I struggle when people look at Finn and say 'What a new little baby' then I have to explain that no, actually he's is nearly 4 months. I struggle when people glare at me, for not supporting such a tiny babys head, he can do it all on his own, and I struggle when babies younger than his corrected age are doing things that he can't.

However he is such an amazing little boy, every thing he learns amazes me, I love his little smile, it makes my day when he wakes up beaming at me and I love him with a love i've never known.

I found this poem when I was admitted to hospital and we we're facing the prospect of Finn being delivered by emergency c-secton weighing an estimated 2lbs 8oz. It makes me smile (and cry!) every time I read it and it really made me more postive.

"How Premmie Mums are chosen"
Did you ever wonder how the mothers of premature babies are chosen?

Somehow, I visualize God hovering over Earth,
selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation.
As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger.
"Beth Armstrong, son. Patron Saint, Matthew.
Marjorie Forrest, daughter. Patron Saint, Celia.
Carrie Rutledge, twins. Patron Saint ... give her Gerard. He's used to profanity."
Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles. "Give her a premmie."
The angel is curious. "Why this one, God? She's so happy."
"Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel."
"But does she have the patience?" asks the angel.
"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it.
I watched her today.
She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother.
You see, the child I'm going to give her has a world of its own.
She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy."
"But Lord, I don't think she even believes in you."
God smiles. "No matter, I can fix that. This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness."
The angel gasps, "Selfishness?! Is that a virtue?"
God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect.
She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied.
She will never take for granted a spoken word.
She will never consider a step ordinary.
When her child says 'mama' for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it.
I will permit her to see clearly the things I see – ignorance, cruelty, prejudice – and allow her to rise above them.
She will never be alone.
I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side."
"And what about her Patron Saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in the air.
God smiles.
"A mirror will suffice."

Coffee days

I spent the day doing what I do best..... hanging out in coffee shops with other yummy mummies!

I like to try a different coffee shop each time, though Starbucks is my most favourite place ever.

Today we went to Marks and Spencers new cafe, M&S in Norwich have just had the biggest redesign in M&S history. It is very nice, not a store I frequent really so can't really comment on it! The cafe itself was lovely and bright, very busy and service was slow but was with a smile. The cakes, oh my, they looked amazing! Baby changing facilites are good, very clean, one private changing room (could of done with a toilet in it really, I mean what are you meant to do if you're on your own?!) and lots of changing stations in the main ladies toilets.

Sorry for such a boring post!

I shall leave you with a pic of my cutie pie this morning.

Discoveries

In the last few weeks Finn has discovered how to smile and coo, I love waking up to such a happy smiley little boy.

I've made a pact with myself to discover all the little towns near by rather than always going to Norwich, the closest city. I'd like to support the local area, but I don't know it! We moved into our house in a new area on a Monday and I was admitted to hospital to have Finn on the Thursday. After our house inspection (the joys of renting) today we are heading to Bungay which is our closest market town.

eBay...I've never been much of an eBayer, however lately I've been buying more and more bits for Finn off there, normally new or hardly used, as babies grow soo quickly. Finn has so far gone through so many sizes, premature, tiny baby, early baby, finally we are in newborn clothes and soon to be 0-3 months as he is turning into a chunky monkey!

I shall leave you with a picture of Finn in his Hawaiian Dungarees, we are trying to bring the sun out!

Mission Impossible!

Having my gorgeous boy completely wrecked my body. Even though I only got to 35 weeks and he was a tiny 3lbs 13oz I have stretch marks galore, and the lovely C-Section scar. I used Bio Oil every week since I was four weeks pregnant but it didn't make any difference, I was destined to get the dreaded stretch marks it seems!

I've decided to dig out the Bio Oil and give it another bash to see if it can't fade the marks a little as I would love to take Finn abroad next year and would like to be able to wear a bikini.

This is what Bio Oil says about Stretch marks....
'Stretch marks are permanent in nature, and although Bio‑Oil is formulated to help improve their appearance, it can never remove them.
Bio‑Oil should be massaged in a circular motion into the stretch marks, twice daily, for a minimum of 3 months. During pregnancy, it should be applied from the start of the second trimester to areas that are prone to stretch marks such as the abdomen, breasts, lower back, hips, buttocks and thighs'

I shall post a picture (and scare the world!) of the dreaded marks now, and another in a months time to see if there is any visible difference.
